The New Motorcycle Test 2008

 

The new practical motorcycle test is being introduced in October 2008 to comply with European legislation aimed at improving the standard of Road Safety for motorcycle and moped riders. This group has been identified as having a high risk of injury or death, particularly in the case of young and inexperienced riders.
The new test involves more demanding special manoeuvres. These will take about eight minutes to complete. Then comes the ride, which is quite similar to the existing test.

There is a cost increase to £80 from the present £60

 The test will be implemented on the 29th September 2008.          

Existing test centres will no longer provide motorcycle tests. The nearest new test centre available will be in Enfield. The demand on this centre will increase and tests will be difficult to obtain.
